The Prime Minister visited the OIC booth at the exhibition of the project performance results according to the civil state guidelines of the village and urban community fund • The OIC Secretary-General responded to the Prime Minister's suggestion to introduce insurance systems for Thai fishermen risk management.

The OIC ‘s Secretary-General, Dr. Suthiphon Thaveechaiyagarn referred to the event of "Performance Exhibition Project Work” in accordance with the civil state guidelines of the village and urban community fund "on January 10, 2019 at the Challenger Building, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi, organized by the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office and presided by Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister who chaired the opening ceremony and rewarded  to the winner projects of the village and urban community fund which were selected as the sample model of each province.  He also gave the speech giving the policy for project development under the civil state guidelines. The target audience was 18,000 persons, consisting of representatives from the village and urban community from all regions of the country, the related agencies, educational institutions, financial institutions and the media from both public and private sectors.

Participation in the exhibition, the OIC has the booth demonstrated its performance, insurance knowledge provided and the roles and duties of the Office of Insurance Commission in regulating and promoting the insurance business, protection of the rights of the insured process,  the role of the Victim Compensation Fund, and the Victims Protection Act of 1992.  The exhibition also presented the in-season rice insurance policies, maize insurance policy, dairy insurance policy, and the 7 Baht and 10+Baht insurance policy.   There also was the game of quiz &, prizes etc. for visitors to the booth.

On this occasion, Prime Minister honorably paid the visit to the OIC’s booth and expressed interesting in the OIC operation, especially the regulation and promotion role in public insurance benefits protection.   The OIC’s Secretary-General had reported the performance results during the past year, including the government policy project such as the crop and maize insurance, the dairy insurance, as well as promoting technological innovation for insurance.  He also reported of the field visit to Nakhon Si Thammarat Province in assistant the victims of the Pabuk storm of the OIC executive members and Thai insurance industry representatives which found that the people whose most occupation are fishery suffered a lot of damage without insurance system to cover the risk. The OIC has planned therefore to introduce a fishery insurance system to manage risks for the fishermen affected from the natural disasters, by applying with the similar model as the in-season rice insurance program.  Questioning various issues and noted of the fishermen suffered from natural disasters, the Prime Minister agreed and suggested the OIC study the insurance pattern which will help to mitigate the damage from the natural disasters for fishery professional as well as the farmer who lack insurance system for risk management.  The OIC’s Secretary-General took this suggestion as a mission for future implementation.
